Rachel Key
Founder and Principal
A lifelong educator and champion of youth, Rachel Key founded Razel Foundation Academy to provide scholars with a nurturing environment that ensures academic, social, emotional, and college readiness. Rachel has a Bachelor’s Degree in Early Childhood Education and Liberal Studies from William Patterson University and a Master’s Degree in Curriculum and Instruction from Grand Canyon University. Currently pursuing studies at Grand Canyon University for a Doctoral of Education in Organizational Leadership, Rachel looks forward to opening Razel soon and ensuring that the academy makes an impact on youth throughout the Hampton Roads community. Rachel is also active in her community with previous experience including work with the YMCA and United Way. Rachel is also a proud member of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Incorporated.

Michele Nickerson-Key
Human Resources Director
Michele brings over 20 years of human resources experience to Razel Academy. In her role at Razel, Michele will serve as the primary point of contact for all levels of staff, faculty, students, and visitors entering the school. Michele will also spearhead our recruitment and talent retention efforts as we seek to bring the best and brightest educators to Razel Foundation Academy. Michele's experience includes notable appointments with Princeton University and Xerox Corporation. Michele earned a Bachelors of Science degree from Rider University and has a Masters in Higher Education from Liberty University. Michele is also a proud member of Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, Incorporated and International Association of Women.

Brenda Jones
Vice Principal
With a passion for youth and family engagement, Brenda serves as the founding Vice Principal for Razel Foundation Academy. Brenda brings to Razel over 40 years of experience supporting youth and families to realize their full potential. Happily married and a mother of 3, Brenda looks forward to working with all future Razel students and families.

Cassandra Kelly-Conn
HR Assistant
With a heart for service and helping meet the need of others, Cassandra serves as Human Resource Assistant for Razel Foundation Academy. Cassandra has 4 years of office experience in a non-profit organization and is passionate about advocacy and prevention. Currently pursuing studies at Virginia Peninsula Community College for an Associate degree in Human Services, Cassandra is seated as Student Representative on the Human Services Advisory Board and member of the Cultural Arts Committee. After completing VPCC, Cassandra will be attending Old Dominion University Fall 2023 continuing her education in Human Services.
